The cart containing filled coffee cups rolled down the school hallways surrounded by its student entourage, with two in the group carrying large containers filled with cookies and breakfast muffins.

Kaleb Mack, 14, eighth grade, pushed the cart. It is his first day back from a cyber school program.

He said he enjoyed doing something with a group of his peers. He missed the camaraderie that a school atmosphere provides. The “Cougar Coffee Cart” project was just the ticket.

The cart’s first stop Friday was at Dillion Charlton’s classroom at North Star Middle School. It was 8:15 a.m.

Teacher and program initiator Amanda Harrington knocked on the door. She and her group didn’t have long before the door opened. The teacher there was waiting.

Charlton took his time and eventually picked a nut and brown sugar muffin over a chocolate no-bake…
