The Jacked Up Bean isn’t your average name for a coffee shop.

Then again, it isn’t your average coffee shop.

Tucked away in St. Joe Plaza, on Palm Coast Parkway Northwest, under a giant white “COFFEE” sign, the shop is a comfortable place to enjoy a cup and a snack and relax.

With brick walls, soft lighting, cozy seating and eclectic details, the Jacked Up Bean opened this week as, owner Todd Secor said, the only local mom-and-pop coffee shop on the west side of Palm Coast.

He added, “It just came about that this retail space came available, and this side of the highway definitely needs something.”

He and his wife, Gina, who owns the Hair Gallery in the same plaza, started work on the space in December, and Todd said he did 90% of the work. But being big believers in using local products and services, he said, all of the contractors were local too.
