West Allis could soon have a new tea, coffee and smoothie shop.

Bambu, a franchise featuring Vietnamese coffees, boba teas, Chè dessert drinks and fruit smoothies, will be at 10708 W. Oklahoma Ave., in the Oak Ridge Square shopping center.

Owner Duc Nguyen said he’s hoping to have the shop open by mid-November.

Work to renovate the space is nearly complete and a health inspection is planned for Thursday, he said. 

Nguyen, who’s Vietnamese, said he’s familiar with the desserts and drinks the café will be offering and said it should fill a void in the area.

“This boba tea is a good niche to get into and it’s something that in Milwaukee, West Allis, we’re missing,” he said.

Some food items, including pandan waffles, will also be offered.
