ANN ARBOR, MI — An Ann Arbor coffee shop near Michigan Stadium is expanding outdoors.

Drip House Coffee Company, 1336 S Main St., will have outdoor seating until Nov. 1, city records show. City council on Monday, Aug. 17, approved the permit that will add 12 tables of 24 seats, shaded with umbrellas, on top of accommodating 10 customers inside, owner Russ Furrha said.

The former University of Michigan and Pioneer High School football player opened the cafe in July and said business has been moving along.

“It’s been phenomenal. We didn’t really expect a sudden surge but everyone seems to really like us. We’re happy to be there. It’s definitely surpassed our expectations,” Furrha said. “Especially now, because of COVID-19, people want to sit outside. We always planned on having outside seating, it was just a matter of getting the permit.”
