Brandi Fishman opened Breaking Grounds in December 2017 to help adults with disabilities find job opportunities. Since then, she says the business has been spreading joy and kindness to hundreds of customers.

MOUNT HOLLY — When the township’s newest coffee shop opened in December 2017, it started out true to that title — initially, Breaking Grounds Coffee and Caf was only selling coffee and pastries.

But the menu has evolved since then to include breakfast sandwiches, salads, paninis, an espresso machine, and a wide selection of teas — and staff members say this expansion is reflective of their own personal growth, too.

For two years now, the cozy White Street shop, which has grown into a beloved social gathering place, has been providing paid opportunities for adults with disabilities who want to find work in the community.
