A 50-year-old man has been put on probation for being drunk and disorderly at Costa Coffee in Douglas.




Ralph Walker, of Derby Road, Douglas, admitted the offence, which was committed on January 2.

Walker was late arriving for court and said that he had overslept after being unable to sleep while in police cells the previous night.

The court heard that Walker was already the subject of a 18-month probation order imposed in March 2020 for possessing a prohibited article in a public place and common assault after an incident at the Co-op in Duke Street.

A probation report said that Walker had a long-standing issue with alcohol but was willing to work with Motiv8.

The report said that, although the previous probation order had been imposed in March, little work had been done due to Covid-19.
