TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A local college student has turned the idea for quicker service at a coffee shop into her own brand.

FAMU-FSU College of Engineering student Kayla Edwards came up with the idea this summer to have a coffee place that would allow her and her peers to access caffeine quicker.

After months of preparation and fundraising, MoThanJo was born.

Kayla said she wants her coffee to be unique by having options from different cultures.

“I know there is a lot of college students in Tallahassee and it would be nice to give them a peak back home,” Edwards said. “While also allowing other students to explore the different cultures in the drinks.”

Her idea is becoming a reality because of her partnership with Lucky Goat Coffee Company.

She went to them to look at prices for products, but gained a mentor in the owner Ben Pautsch.
