Police: Suspect tried to hide his meth in his coffee

Sometimes a plain cup of coffee isn't enough.

But according to a recent Wichita Falls Police arrest report, a suspect added a little more than creamer to his coffee.

Smith

Wichita Falls police spokesman, officer Brian Masterson said officers arrested Jerry Smith after traffic yielded marijuana and methamphetamine

Officers Masterson said shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, officers observed a vehicle fail to signal to turn from Windthorst Road onto Central Freeway. The vehicle, driven by Smith, continued to drive, Masterson said, and the officers pursued until Smith pulled over.

The officers, Masterson said, noticed that Smith was making movements towards the center console of his vehicle. Smith was placed in custody where the officers found a hand-rolled cigar located behind his ear that contained a green leafy substance that later tested positive as marijuana, Masterson said.

Masterson said that while searching the vehicle, the officers found a Styrofoam cup of coffee with several pieces of crystal-like substance floating in it. The substance, Masterson said, tested positive as methamphetamine.

Smith was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 20 ounces possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams and under 200 grams, and evading arrests with a motor vehicle.

His total bond was set at $13,500 by a judge. Smith remained in the Wichita County Jail Thursday afternoon.
