SAN ANGELO — A Downtown San Angelo coffee shop and pizzeria building is for sale.

Stango's Coffee Shop at 221 S. Chadbourne St. has been in business for eight years.

"The restaurant business is a tough business, it takes a lot of hours," Steve Stango, the coffee shop's namesake owner, said. "With COVID, no one is making any money in town or at least I haven't. It's a nice time to let me hand the reigns over to someone else.

San Angelo Real Estate had the 1969 building listed for sale Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020.

"If you're looking for a turn-key business with rental opportunities, look no further, this is the investment for you," the real estate website states. "The only thing better than this deal is the pizza."

The 4,210 square foot building has a full bar, loaded commercial kitchen and loft area.

In the back is a two-story 1 bed/1.5 bath apartment with all the amenities, with an upstairs loft bedroom, bathroom and two rented covered parking spots.

The restaurant will stay open until it has a buyer. Even then, Stango hopes someone will continue the pizzeria, coffee combination.

"People in town love the pizza and coffee," Stango said. "If someone wants to do that, they can come into a business that's all set up and come make money right away."

Stango said they received five calls of people interested in the building the first day it hit the market.

"Who knows how long it'll take?" he said. "It could be quick or it could be awhile because of COVID."

Earlier this year Stango shelved plans to open an Italian restaurant downtown.

Stango had purchased property at 208 S. Oakes St. in June 2019 with plans to open Stango's Fine Italian Dining

But on April 25 with the coronavirus pandemic's closure six weeks in along with other challenges, Stango pulled the plug on the project.

"I believe there are reasons for why things happen and I am just going to stay focused on keeping Stango's Coffee Shop open which is going to be tough, we all are going to be having it tough," a Facebook post stated.
