In September 2019, the district administration had launched Koraput Coffee, which has garnered popularity within and outside the state for its superior taste and quality.
KORAPUT: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday announced to bring another 5,000 hectares under coffee cultivation in Koraput district between 2022 and 2025.
The brand, Koraput Coffee, has already created a niche for itself in two years after launch and generated new livelihood opportunities for the district's tribals, especially women, the chief minister said while virtually distributing the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) smart health cards at an event.

While in the first year, coffee plantation will be undertaken on 1,000 hectares, during the second and third year each, the cultivation will take place over 2,000 hectares.
"My government has always worked for the betterment of the tribals. Expansion of coffee cultivation will further enhance their economy," Patnaik said.
In September 2019, the district administration had launched Koraput Coffee, which has garnered popularity within and outside the state for its superior taste and quality.
To promote the brand internationally, the chief minister had launched a dedicated e-commerce platform, koraputcoffee.org, and inaugurated a Koraput Coffee cafe on International Coffee Day on October 1.
"Around 12 lakh people of Koraput can avail of healthcare benefits by using the BSKY cards," the chief minister said.
