Java Sun fans may be getting their buzz back, with word that popular Atlantic Ave. coffee shop may reopen soon, after closing its doors a couple weeks ago.

“We are working with interested parties,” Colleen Murphy told The Reporter. Murphy owned Java Sun with her mother, Cheryl Burke.

Asked if they’d like to see the coffee shop reopen under new ownership, Murphy answered, “That is what we want the most for the town of Marblehead.”

Java Sun closed on December 29, after 18 years in business. Its loyal customers were shocked.

“Java Sun felt like the coffee place on ‘Friends’ and that’s rare,” said Gabrielle Rogers of Marblehead, referring to the Central Perk coffee shop on the popular sitcom.
