NEW BROCKTON, Ala. (WDHN)—An Alabama “food safety, food handler” class took place this week at the Coffee County
extension office.

Under state law, each retail food establishment is required to have a “person-in-charge”, an owner,
or manager of the business to be a certified food manager.

The course covers the FDA food code and discusses foodborne hazards cross-contamination
and making sure foods are kept at proper temperatures.

In this “heatwave”, it’s even more important to remember not to let food sit on a table for too long.

For more information on the food safety class and other requirements, you can contact your respective county extension office.
