Elba, Ala. (WDHN)—It was a very special occasion for a single mother and her two children in Elba.
The Coffee County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity held a dedication ceremony for its 24th house completed.
Through volunteer efforts, the chapter has been building homes for low-income individuals since 1998.
The family itself contributes sweat equity in the construction of their own house.
In this case, the home on Adkinson Street will be owned by Tawanna Thomas and her two children, Kentana and Kendre.
For habitat volunteer Daniel Stephens it was an emotional moment.
In the 1990 Elba flood, he and his family lost their home.
